Twilight Kitchen IN THE NEWS

I am happy to share that my new kitchen & market store was profiled recently in the late December issue of Block Club Chicago, our hometown news organization covering Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods. Joe Ward, who is their Rogers Park beat reporter, interviewed me and had a photographer visit the kitchen while I was preparing dishes…

“Rogers Park Chef Opens Twilight Kitchen…Christopher Sullivan worked for acclaimed restaurants like Blackbird and Avec before opening his food business, which is built to make quick pivots during the pandemic.” - Block Club Chicago / Dec. 2021

While I’ve been pleased to get laudatory reviews of my cooking before in Food & Wine, Bon Appétit Magazine & more. I am happy to share that my new kitchen & market store was profiled recently in the Holiday Season late December issue of Block Club Chicago, our hometown news organization covering Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods. Joe Ward, who is their Rogers Park beat reporter, interviewed me and had a photographer visit the kitchen while I was preparing dishes for my Family-Meals Delivery Program.

Preparing food for the weekly deliveries of packaged Family-Meals.

Joe published a positive writeup, mentioning how food creators like me are having to pivot our business models to adapt to changes in the food service industry brought on by the pandemic. He highlighted—among other features—that Twilight Kitchen “…is the culmination of three decades in the restaurant industry. [It is] a ‘food emporium’ [that] offers catering to large offices and parties, plus food deliveries and meal kits for families, including Christmas dinners to-go. It hosts private events at its Clark Street space for things like holidays and retirement parties, where Sullivan will create custom menus [and] prepare specialty and themed meals for the public."

To invite local Rogers Park neighbors into the kitchen—as well as Chicagoans from farther afield—I’m offering cooking classes and pop-up dinners that focus on creating and enjoying meals together. You can read more details of all these events in Joe’s profile in the full article at BLOCK CLUB CHICAGO.

“Twilight Kitchen’s most public-facing facet is its Sunday market, when 10am-3pm the space acts like a cafe, offering coffee, breakfast sandwiches and other foods inspired from what Sullivan has been making during the week. By the summer, Sullivan is hoping to have cafe seating along Clark Street during market hours.”

I have upcoming Twilight Dinners and Sunday Markets. which offer many wonderful foods and planned meals through the TK: CATERINGCLASSESMARKETEVENTS programs. And I do custom menus; contact me at 773-844-7335 to discuss personalized event planning and how we can help prepare your next meal.

Warmly,

Christopher

The Neighborhood Shows Up!

Thanks to all who attended Holiday Haze: Twilight Dinner #8, our inaugural communal meal presented in our store last week. It was amazing to finally have the first sit down event in the space on Dec 9th. I decorated the dining room in a festive holiday theme, added a turntable and record collection that guests selected music from and served a five-course meal with pairings, and although it was probably a bit too much food, everyone had a great time.

Thanks to all who attended Holiday Haze: Twilight Dinner #8, our inaugural communal meal presented in our store. It was amazing to finally have the first sit down event in the space last week on Dec 9th. I decorated the dining room in a festive holiday theme, added a turntable and record collection that guests selected music from and served a five-course meal with pairings, and although it was probably a bit too much food, everyone had a great time.

Highlights included a cassoulet of duck confit, pork belly and garlic sausage, and a course of seared Wester Ross salmon with parsnip puree and gremolata. See the accompanying photos of some of the plated dishes and the full menu which will give you a sense of the structure and presentation of a typical 5-course Twilight Dinner.

Interested in sharing a meal with us? I have more Twilight Dinners in our programming (with plans to have 1 pop-up dinner a month at the space). RSVP for our NEW YEAR’S EVE TWILIGHT DINNER or consider signing up for my delivered meals. I’ve started weekly meal deliveries to select neighborhoods in the city and have been amazed at the feedback so far. The meal kits usually include two full meals for 2-4 people with additional breads, cookies, soups and other extras as well. Please reach out if you are interested in getting on my DELIVERED MEALS PROGRAM client list, and we can discuss whether there are open delivery slots in your area.

Our mission at Twilight Kitchen is to use our love of food as a springboard for specialized events and offerings that add enjoyment and build community in Rogers Park. We love being a new active neighbor on Clark street and have had many local residents stopping by to shop our market and sign up for our twilight dinners and cooking classes. I can’t wait to see you at our next dinner; please come enjoy one of these special evenings.

I also hosted a bread making class last night (Dec 16), and it was a blast to have new neighbors and old friends shaping loaves of sourdough, eating soup and enjoying themselves in our kitchen. Thanks to all who attended. Private classes can be arranged as well if you are interested in a class or quick tutorial on breads, soups, or any other food preps.

My cooking classes are structured as 2-hour workshops offered on Thursday evenings, usually once a month from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Class size is purposely limited to 8 people and all levels of experience are welcome. No prior experience or professional equipment is necessary; our goal is to enable you to cook and prepare these foods in your home kitchen. Join us for the next COOKING CLASS: SAVVY SEAFOOD on January 13th.
